The Interview

Please Introduce Yourself and Your Blog

Hi My name is Angie Dumas. I am a Food Writer/Food Blogger. I am the creator of my food blog, Da’Stylish Foodie and I am a Freelance Writer for a few local magazines in Lafayette, LA.

I have a passion for both food and fashion. Hence the name Da’Stylish Foodie. I create my own recipes and I also cover restaurant Media Days and food reviews of restaurants new and existing in the State of Louisiana and other places we travel around the world.

Why & When did you start your food blog?

I started my food blog a couple of years ago. A girl that I know suggested to me that I start a food blog. She suggested it because we dine out often and people were always asking me about my dining experiences.

I also enjoy photography. Having a little experience in this area, allows me to produce a blog that stands a cut above the rest simply because people eat with their eyes first.

Where did your love for cooking come from?

I didn’t learn how to cook until I was in my twenties.  My grandmother taught me the basics and I built on that to perfect my cooking. After I was married, my husband and I would watch cooking shows often when we first were married. Cooking became something we enjoyed doing together.

The better I became, the more I was willing to try new things and learn more about techniques.

Where do you get your cooking inspiration from?

I watch a lot of Pioneer Woman and I watch several Cooking shows on The Food Network.

Do you have a favorite Chef?

Yes, Pioneer Woman. I love her cookbooks and her TV Show.

Which is your favorite Restaurant?

There is a local restaurant called The Social in Lafayette, LA.

What is your favorite/signature dish?

I have a publish recipe called Oxtail Stew, . I am also working on more recipes.

What has been your best Foodie experience?

The Melting Pot,  it was such a fun time. The food was superb and the experience was wonderful.

What has been your worst foodie experience?

Mr. Keets,a restaurant in Maurice, LA. that was so disgusting. No matter what we tried everything was terrible. They opened a different location in Lafayette and I decided to give the new restaurant a try. OMG, was I in for a terrible surprise, the new location was not that much better and it didn’t last much longer after opening.

Do you have any hints of tips for people starting a food blog?

Write about what you are passionate about. Be creative and be consistent.

We would like to say a huge thank you for Angie’s time and highly recommend her blog Da’ Stylish Foodie.
